Absolutely! We see it everyday. In the same way our grandparents forged genuine friendships with pen pals they’d never met in person, our Gen Z and Alphas make friends who share common interests around the world via Zoom.
This is especially true for kids and teens with niche interests. They might not find a friend who shares their loves of a particular author or solving Rubik’s cubes within a 50 miles radius of home, but on Outschool they’ll cast a wider net and surely find friends who “get them.”
All of our classes are led by educators who are background checked annually. Outschool employs a Trust & Safety team that is always available to support the needs of our parents and learners. Feel free to review the complete safety policy here: https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/579976-learner-safety-and-privacy-for-parents
Yes, yes, yes! In our classroom, we celebrate the beautiful tapestry of neurodiversity, recognizing that each mind brings its unique strengths and perspectives. Embracing neurodiversity fosters a supportive environment where every learner feels valued, understood, and empowered to thrive.
In order to best support our learners in class, we always appreciate a message at the time of enrollment with any pertinent details about your amazing kiddo and their specific needs.
All learning “counts.” Homeschool guidelines will vary by location, but we are always happy to assist with your transcript needs. Oftentimes it is a simple matter of bridging the communication gap between typical, boxy education standards and the wonderful world of interest-led learning. Our school founder, Meagan Tauber, is a veteran homeschool mom who is always happy to assist with translating our class experiences into “transcript lingo” for credit purposes.
Flex classes are incredible for so many scenarios! If your learner gets a bit anxious in a live class, flex is ideal. If your learner likes to “stew” over content, flex provides the opportunity for them to rewind and rewatch anytime. If your schedule is a bit unpredictable, flex classes provide just that…. flexibility!
One of our favorite reasons to love flex classes is when it comes to creative learning adventures. We are pretty sure Van Gogh never sat down at an easel and said, “Ok…. I’ve got 50 minutes, let’s paint some sunflowers!”. Creativity takes times. Sometimes you want the option to undo and redo something. Sometimes you need to walk away and come back to your work later with fresh eyes. Sometimes you’re just not feeling inspired and a break is best. Creating in a flex environment offers all of that freedom.
Easy! Flex classes on Outschool come with peer and educator support from start to finish! Have you ever watched a YouTube tutorial and they make it look oh so easy? But then you try it and the plan goes entirely off the rails? On YouTube, that’s typically where the experience ends. There’s no additional support. However in an Outschool flex class, learners can direct message their class facilitator for support or post in the classroom for support from both the educator and their peers.
